Stamp Collection

To tell you the truth, I am more of a stamp keeper than a collector. I do not actively seek out limited edition or commemorative stamps to pad out my collection, but I always save the ones being received in our mailbox. I may just use them for a creative project one day.

Here are my favourite crafting ideas to make with postage stamps:

Stamped Eggs by Martha Stewart

Shrove Tuesday

Today is Shrove Tuesday or Faschingsdienstag as they call it in Germany. I am not going to attend any fancy dress parties, but it's always nice to think back how much I used to enjoy these events as a kid. I even won a prize for best costume as Isaura and a gypsy girl.

Pillow Covers

We just bought a patio storage bench, but still need new cushions. I might do them myself based on the design I made with the computer. The patterns (apart from the flowers) are taken from the book 'The Magic Chalk' by Zinken Hopp.

Flea Market Finds No. 3

This is an old kitchen scale from the 1950's made by the Swiss firm, Lyssex. It's still in a perfect condition, unlike some of those being sold on the internet. It weighs up to 2 kg and is accurate to the last gram. It definitely adds some vintage charm to our kitchen decor and gives me a nice warm feeling that something precious has been saved again.

Grave-hill field in Boltersen

Buckelgräberfeld in Boltersen is a protohistoric graveyard with around 300 graves, some of which are dating back to the 3rd-5th century AD. The Lombards buried their dead in urns under or between tumuli, but tombs from the Neolithic, the Bronze and Iron Age, as well as the Roman times have also been found here. This is a one-of-a-kind historical site, still I have to admit that I enjoyed the scenery more than the history lying below the ground.

Valentine's Day

I bring you with reverent hands
The books of my numberless dreams;
White woman that passion has worn
As the tide wears the dove-gray sands,
And with heart more old than the horn
That is brimmed from the pale fire of time:
White woman with numberless dreams
I bring you my passionate rhyme.

Snowdrop

They say that one should not mistake snowdrops for the first sign of spring, but it's safe to say that they kind of herald the end of winter. It's great to see some life in the garden, it gives one hope that nature has begun to wipe sleep out of its eyes.
